Happy New Year to all who stops by my blog and sees this! 2013 was a year full of lessons and experiences for me! But, full of blessing nonetheless, and I hope for you as well! I, myself have a lot improvements that I need to make, personally, musically, and business-wise. And staying up-to-date with my blog is definitely one of the improvements that I need to make. So, I am definitely going to make a better effort on keeping you guys informed on what's going on with me, my music, and with business. Even if isn't BIG news, I'll still have something new posted up. Dealing with music, sports, entertainment, or even just a motivational quote, something new will be posted EVERY Tuesday! And I hope you guys hold me accountable for it as well, because I will. So, get ready for some great music from me. My aim this year is to make great music, and not just good music. This song talks about seeing your success coming ahead, seeing all of the things that you wish to accomplish coming ahead, and also seeing all of things that come with success, whether it be hate, love, recognition etc etc...whatever it may be, in order for you to achieve anything, you have to see yourself doing it first. Well, it's been about a month since I've released new music for you guys. So, YES! This Thursday, October 3rd, 2013 I'll be releasing some new music! As you may have seen in a previous post, I had a phone interview with Str8OutDaDen.com. One of the topics of discussion was what I had coming up? And I answered with 3 upcoming projects: 

"Charm City State of Mind", "In My Own World", and "Dark Knight Rises". I'll be releasing a freestyle that I did on Alicia Keys' "Unthinkable", which will probably be on "In My Own World". Just some added motivation for the day and for your aspirations. I hope you can take something out of this interview that can be beneficial/influential towards your progress and your success like I did.

Thoughts of the next song I should do a freestyle over.

How about J. Cole's "Power Trip"??

I definitely have a lot of respect for J. Cole and his music. Especially his song "Power Trip". The content of the song definitely hits home for me. I've probably listened to it every day since the first time I heard it. I never thought to write a freestyle to it, even though it made me think of a similar situation going on with me that the song describes. But, my boy Qwan gave me the idea just yesterday, and I said, "ok".  Now, my freestyle will discuss a similar situation like the one described in the original song, but with a little twist.  I'll also be singing the hook. Now, like I said in my first sentence, I have a lot of respect for J. Cole and his music, with that being said, I want to make sure I do this song justice as well as he did, but especially because I respect good quality music and I would never want to make/settle for anything less.

So stay tuned, because I already have half of the song finished!

“Welcome to the Lion’s Den” is a leak from T.O.A.K.’s debut mixtape “Test Of A King: The Mixtape.” It was produced by DJ Naydee of Beatsplanet.com. A raw song that displays my lyrical ability, expressing my around the clock work ethic to grind with my music, that anything less than around the clock isn’t going to get it done. It also expresses where I’m from, where I’ve been, and where I am going.

Get to know the artist T.O.A.K:

I go by the name of “T.O.A.K” (Pronounced Toke), stands for Test Of A King. I’m a hip hop artist from Baltimore, MD, but I’m currently in Pittsburgh, PA. I’m a new artist that actually just started doing music July of 2012, all from a blessing in disguise of me breaking my leg during my last arena football game, April 27, 2012. While recovering from this injury, I picked up a pencil and pad, started my music career on July 2012, and I haven’t stopped since. I have a versatile style with comparisons of J.Cole, Drake, Wale, and Tito Lopez. I definitely appreciate the opportunity to have my music posted on Reppghhiphop, especially being that I live in Pittsburgh.
